Andy Greenwood

Andy Greenwood was raised in Knaresborough, where the school holidays were often spent with his father who sold Massey Ferguson tractors to the farmers of the vales, moors, hills and dales of North and West Yorkshire. After accidentally spending three years at the University of Kent (he didn't realise just far away Canterbury was) he returned  North to Newcastle to begin a career as a television cameraman and over the last 25 years has shot films and travel documentaries all over the world, from Argentina to Alaska, from Iceland to Japan for the BBC, Sky and ITV, including Great Railway Journeys of the World, Rough Guides and Coast.

Coming back to the patchwork of greens, the light and shade of the hill country and the soaring skies and space of the highest parts of North Yorkshire to work on The Dales Diary truly has been like coming home - and who knows, maybe that old red Massey, 467 DWW, parked at the foot of Arkengarthdale was one of those delivered by his father in those far off holidays of the 1960's.

He is married with two sons and now lives in Tynedale.
